Governor Duoye Diri tests negative for coronavirus
Governor Duoye Diri of Bayelsa State has tested negative for coronavirus after being spotted earlier today
undergoing a medical test.
The result of the test came after the Bayelsa State Governor denied having any contact with Abba Kyari, the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, before they tested positive for coronavirus
Diri’s acting Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Alabrah, announced the test result obtained from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) accredited laboratory in Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital in Edo on Thursday March 26.
The acting chief press secretary said;
“The result showed that Diri had no evidence of COVID-19 infection.
“Before the governor opted for the test, he had been inundated with phone calls and messages, following speculations on the social media that he may have been infected.
“This was fuelled by his sitting next to a Northeast state governor, who later tested positive for the virus, during the last National Economic Council (NEC) meeting at the State House, Abuja, on March 19."
Governor Duoye Diri also thanked Nigerians and Bayelsans for their love and support before the test was carried out.
